OKX, a prominent global cryptocurrency exchange, has officially launched its services in the Netherlands, marking a significant expansion in the European market. The launch includes a new centralized crypto exchange (CEX) and a state-of-the-art Web3 wallet designed for Dutch users, per Cointelegraph.
Starting today, Dutch residents can access OKX's centralized exchange, offering trading of approximately 150 cryptocurrencies and over 60 trading pairs with the euro. To enhance user experience, OKX has integrated with iDeal, a popular local payment system, allowing for free euro deposits and withdrawals. Additionally, OKX supports transactions via the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), further streamlining the process for European users.
Erald Ghoos, the General Manager of OKX Europe, emphasized the importance of this launch as part of OKX’s long-term commitment to the Netherlands. "The launch of our centralized exchange and OKX Wallet in the Netherlands is a significant milestone," Ghoos stated. He also highlighted the hiring of a local expert team and the development of products tailored to meet the specific needs and feedback of Dutch users.
OKX’s journey in the Netherlands began in 2021 under the name Okcoin Europe. The company was registered as a crypto services provider with the Dutch Central Bank, De Nederlandsche Bank. Recently, the exchange rebranded from Okcoin Europe to OKX in April, aligning with its global identity. OKX also holds a virtual financial asset service provider license in Malta, underscoring its commitment to regulatory compliance.
In celebration of the official launch, OKX is offering a bonus of up to 50 euros (approximately $54) for new users who sign up by July 3. Dutch residents interested in joining OKX can visit the official OKX website, download the app from the App Store or Google Play, and complete the verification process.
This expansion into the Netherlands is part of OKX's broader strategy to strengthen its presence in Europe. However, the company has also made strategic withdrawals from certain markets.
