Apple Launches Apple Intelligence With iOS 18.1 Update For iPhones
Siri has received a significant update, showcasing a redesigned interface that enables more natural responses to product-related queries.
Apple has officially rolled out iOS 18.1, introducing its highly anticipated artificial intelligence system, Apple Intelligence, for iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models. This launch marks a crucial milestone for Apple as it seeks to enhance its marketing efforts for the iPhone 16 lineup, released last month, while also addressing investor concerns regarding its AI strategy.
The first wave of Apple Intelligence features includes advanced tools for proofreading and rewriting text, object removal from photos, and a notification summarization feature that condenses multiple alerts into a single, digestible message. Additionally, Siri has received a significant update, showcasing a redesigned interface that enables more natural responses to product-related queries. However, the current version of Siri cannot still perform actions within applications—a functionality that Apple plans to introduce in a future update.
To access Apple Intelligence, eligible users must opt in through the Settings app, placing themselves on a waitlist for access. Although Apple has not disclosed the wait time, beta testers have reported receiving access within the same day. Following approval, users will download the necessary AI models that Apple Intelligence requires to function effectively.
Prominent features of Apple Intelligence include the capability to summarize notifications and a new text interface for Siri, which allows users to interact with the AI without speaking. The updated writing tools are available throughout the operating system, enabling users to refine their text in various styles. Moreover, the Photos app now features enhanced search functionalities and can create short movies from users' images.
