Brave, the privacy-focused web browser, has expanded its AI-powered assistant, Leo, to Android users, offering a range of features aimed at the browsing experience. Leo, initially launched on desktop platforms, provides functionalities such as question answering, page summarization, content creation, and more. The Android release follows the successful debut of Leo on desktop and precedes its forthcoming availability on iOS devices.

Leo's capabilities encompass a variety of tasks, including generating real-time summaries of web pages or videos, answering queries about content, producing written content, translating or rewriting pages, transcribing video or audio content, and even writing code. With Leo's introduction, Brave aims to provide users with a comprehensive solution for various browsing needs, minimizing reliance on other popular language models like ChatGPT.

Users can leverage Leo for a multitude of purposes, such as planning recipes, obtaining travel recommendations, comparing products, or summarizing lengthy webpages efficiently. Leo integrates access to advanced language models, including Mixtral 8x7B, Anthropic's Claude Instant, and Meta's Llama 2 13B, with Mixtral 8x7B serving as the default model for Leo on desktop and Android. Additionally, users have the flexibility to select alternative models or upgrade to Leo Premium, offering higher rate limits for a monthly fee of $14.99, which covers up to five devices across various platforms.

Privacy remains a paramount concern for Brave, as the company emphasizes that all interactions with Leo are private, with chats not recorded or used for model training purposes. Requests are routed through anonymization servers, and Leo's responses are discarded post-generation. Furthermore, users are not required to create a Brave account to utilize Leo's services. For subscribers, Brave ensures anonymity through unlinkable tokens, safeguarding user activity and email information.

Brave Leo for Android is now accessible to all Brave Android users upon updating to version 1.63. While the rollout will occur gradually over the next few days, users can anticipate Leo's availability on iOS devices in the coming weeks, promising an enhanced browsing experience marked by privacy and productivity.
