Brilliant Labs Unveils Frame, AI-Powered AR Glasses Reshaping Daily Life
Brilliant Labs invites a community of innovators to shape the future of Frame, accelerating innovation and pushing the boundaries of human-AI interaction.
Brilliant Labs, a Singapore-based startup, has unveiled Frame, a pair of augmented reality glasses equipped with a powerful AI assistant named Noa. What sets Frame apart is its ability to seamlessly integrate advanced technology into a sleek and stylish design that resembles normal eyeglasses. With Frame, users can experience a seamless blend of virtual and real-world interactions, opening up a world of possibilities for both personal and professional use.
Powered by a multimodal AI system, Noa offers users an unprecedented level of assistance, combining voice commands, visual processing, image generation, and translation capabilities. This cutting-edge technology, which includes advanced AI models such as Perplexity AI and OpenAI's GPT4, enables Frame users to perform a wide range of tasks with ease and efficiency.
Weighing a mere 39 grams and featuring thick round frames made of nylon plastic, Frame pays homage to iconic figures like John Lennon, Steve Jobs, and Gandhi while incorporating cutting-edge AI capabilities. Available in Smokey Black, Matte Cool Gray, and H2O (see-through) color variants, Frame blends the legacy of past innovators with the forefront of modern technology.
"The future of human/AI interaction will come to life in innovative wearables and new devices, and I’m so excited to be bringing Perplexity’s real-time answer engine to Brilliant Labs’ Frame," commented Aravind Srinivas, CEO and founder of Perplexity.
What sets Frame apart is its commitment to openness and accessibility. As an open-source platform, developers have access to a wealth of resources, allowing them to customize and enhance Noa's capabilities according to their needs. This collaborative approach not only fosters innovation but also ensures that Frame remains at the forefront of AR technology.
Frame goes beyond traditional AR glasses by incorporating a high-resolution display with 3,000 nits of brightness and advanced camera and sensor technology for real-time visual analysis. Unlike other devices, Frame does not store files locally or allow direct social media sharing, prioritizing user privacy and security.
Frame is available for preorder now at $349, with expected shipping in April 2024. As a special promotion, AI services subscription is free (subject to a daily cap), with a paid tier to be announced in the future.
The launch of Frame represents a significant milestone for Brilliant Labs, which has attracted the attention and investment of industry leaders such as John Hanke, CEO of Niantic, the company behind Pokémon GO. With Hanke's support and a total financing of $6 million, Brilliant Labs is poised to lead the way in revolutionizing the AR landscape.
With Frame, Brilliant Labs is pioneering a new era of augmented reality, where technology seamlessly integrates into everyday life, enhancing the way we live, work, and interact with the world around us.
