Cloudera Acquires Verta to Enhance AI Capabilities in Data Platform

Cloudera, a leading enterprise AI data company, has acquired Verta, an AI startup specializing in operational AI platforms. The acquisition aims to boost Cloudera's AI capabilities and provide cutting-edge AI tools to its global customer base. Verta’s team, including renowned experts like CEO Dr. Manasi Vartak and CTO Dr. Conrado Miranda, will join Cloudera’s machine learning group to advance Cloudera’s AI roadmap.
Verta, founded in 2018, Verta secured close to $16 million in funding, highlighted by a significant $10 million Series A round in 2020. The inception of the open-source project ModelDB by Vartak during her graduate research provided the groundwork for Verta's pioneering platform that manages versioning machine learning models.

This acquisition will enable Cloudera to serve the growing AI demands of its customers more effectively. Verta's technology simplifies creating and optimizing business-ready LLMs and enhances Cloudera's platform with a generative AI (GenAI). workbench, model catalog, and AI governance tools.
