NVIDIA, a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) and graphics processing, has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with Hon Hai Technology Group, better known as Foxconn. This partnership aims to expedite the AI industrial revolution through the development of cutting-edge data centers and AI-driven solutions.

The announcement was made on the prestigious platform of Hon Hai Tech Day in Taipei. This multifaceted partnership harnesses the potential of NVIDIA's advanced AI platforms, including AI, DRIVE AV, Isaac Robotics, and Omniverse. These platforms will serve as the foundation for a wave of projects designed to digitize industries and usher in a new era of AI-driven innovations.

The core of this alliance centers around the establishment of AI factories—a monumental leap in GPU computing infrastructure. These AI factories, underpinned by NVIDIA's accelerated computing platform, will leverage the cutting-edge NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper™ Superchip and NVIDIA AI Enterprise software to process, refine, and transform colossal datasets into valuable AI models and tokens.

Simultaneously, Foxconn is actively working on intelligent solutions that leverage NVIDIA technologies, including:

  • Foxconn Smart EV: This initiative is built upon the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion™ 9 platform, representing a next-generation solution for autonomous automotive fleets powered by the formidable NVIDIA DRIVE Thor™.
  • Foxconn Smart Manufacturing: This robotic system will be anchored in the NVIDIA Isaac™ autonomous mobile robot platform.
  • Foxconn Smart City: Incorporating the NVIDIA Metropolis intelligent video analytics platform to enhance urban environments.

The collaborative spirit behind this venture was emphasized by Foxconn Chairman and CEO Young Liu, who noted,

"Most importantly, NVIDIA and Foxconn are building these factories together. We will be helping the whole industry move much faster into the new AI era."

Jensen Huang, the Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, underscored the significance of the AI era's emergence. He stated:

"A new type of manufacturing has emerged—the production of intelligence. And the data centers that produce it are AI factories. Foxconn, the world’s largest manufacturer, has the expertise and scale to build AI factories globally. We are delighted to expand our decade-long partnership with Foxconn to accelerate the AI industrial revolution."

By joining forces with NVIDIA, Foxconn aims to empower its global clientele to create and operate their AI factories, optimizing them with NVIDIA AI Enterprise software. Key technologies integral to this collaboration include NVIDIA HGX™ reference designs, equipped with eight NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs per system, NVIDIA GH200 Superchips, NVIDIA OVX™ reference designs, and NVIDIA networking.

With these cutting-edge systems, Foxconn's customers can harness NVIDIA's accelerated computing capabilities to deliver generative AI services and expedite the training of autonomous machines, such as industrial robots and self-driving cars.

In addition to equipping customers with AI factories, Foxconn is actively exploring the establishment of its AI factory. This facility will leverage the NVIDIA Omniverse™ platform and Isaac and Metropolis frameworks to meet the exacting production and quality standards of the electronics industry.

Foxconn's embrace of edge AI and simulation will pave the way for deploying autonomous mobile robots, capable of covering several miles daily, and industrial robots designed for assembly, coating, packaging, and quality inspections.

The integration of NVIDIA platforms into an AI factory allows Foxconn to conduct AI training, inference, workflow enhancements, and simulations in a virtual environment before real-world deployment. Such an approach offers operational efficiency gains, reduces costs, and saves time.

Furthermore, Foxconn will provide a range of NVIDIA DRIVE™ solutions to global automakers. As a tier-one manufacturer of NVIDIA DRIVE Orin™-based electronic control units (ECUs), Foxconn is poised to scale up to NVIDIA DRIVE Thor-based ECUs. This will empower Foxconn and its automotive partners to usher in a new era of software-defined, functionally safe, and secure vehicles enriched with AI capabilities.

The partnership between NVIDIA and Foxconn ushers in an exciting chapter in the evolution of AI-driven industries. It promises transformative innovations that will define the future of technology and manufacturing.
