OpenAI has announced the launch of its Advanced Voice Mode (AVM) for ChatGPT, which is being rolled out to Plus and Teams tier customers this week. Users in the Enterprise and Education tiers are slated to receive access by next week. This update, enhancing ChatGPT's voice interaction capabilities, features a new design and additional features designed to make conversations more natural and personalized.

The AVM interface has undergone a transformation, with the previous animated black dots being replaced by a modern, blue animated sphere. Users will receive a notification within the ChatGPT app when AVM is accessible to them. In addition to the updated design, OpenAI has introduced five new voices named Arbor, Maple, Sol, Spruce, and Vale, bringing the total voice options to nine. These nature-inspired voice names signify OpenAI's commitment to fostering more organic interactions with ChatGPT.

The rollout also enhances ChatGPT's ability to recognize accents and speeds up conversations, while introducing personalization options like Custom Instructions and Memory. However, the video and screen-sharing features showcased earlier this year are not included in this release.

Notably, a voice named "Sky," previously part of the beta, was removed following a legal dispute with actress Scarlett Johansson, who claimed it resembled her voice. AVM is still unavailable in several regions, including the EU, U.K., and Norway.
