Tesla To Introduce Humanoid Robots In Factories By Next Year
Musk previously projected that Optimus would be operational in Tesla factories by the end of this year.
Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, has declared that the company intends to start employing humanoid robots, dubbed Optimus, in its production facilities from next year. These robots will first be utilized within Tesla's operations, with aspirations to commence large-scale production for external sales by the year 2026.
Elon Musk announced on his social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, "Tesla will produce truly useful humanoid robots in small quantities for internal use next year, and hopefully, in large quantities for other companies by 2026." This statement was made shortly before Tesla's latest financial results were released, leading to a more than 5% increase in the company's shares during Monday's trading session on Wall Street.
Earlier this year, Musk announced the unveiling of Tesla's much-anticipated robotaxi for August 8. However, recent reports have emerged that the event is postponed. Bloomberg News has indicated that the delay might stretch until October, and Musk has suggested that the extra development time would enable the introduction of new features, such as alterations to the vehicle's front design.
As Tesla faces slowing demand for electric vehicles, Musk's businesses are increasingly focusing on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, and robotics to drive future growth. Musk has indicated that the Optimus robots are expected to be mass-produced and cost less than $20,000 each.
The introduction of these robots aligns with Musk's vision of integrating advanced AI and robotics into Tesla's operations, aiming to revolutionize manufacturing processes and extend these innovations to other industries in the coming years.
